review 1: A quiet, measured but powerfully written book by retired Supreme Court Justice Stevens on six Amendments to the constitution he thinks would make the country a better place. They cover the weakening the immunity of sovereigns, ridding the country of the principle if anti-commandeering, overturning Citizens United, abolishing the death penalty, ridding us if politically motivated gerrymanders, and restoring the Second Amendment to its original intention of dealing with militias. Short and compact but scholarly and informative. 3.3 Martinie glasses.
review 2: I agree with virtually every word of this book, and value Justice Stevens clear presentation of the issues involved therein. Why only a 3 out of 5? Partly because the book is so short - the entire text of
... more the Constitution and its Amendments needed to be added just to get over 150 pages. Also, because while the book is well written and compellingly argued, it lacks any real flair. It's an interesting book, well worth a read, but does not fall into any kind of "can't miss" category unless, like me, you are a Supreme Court junkie. less

Interesting topics, but each of them deserve their own full-length treatment.

An overall good read, if not a bit dry.

Not your usual erudite polemic.
