review 1: A good solid thriller dealing with a set of murders in Venice Italy. One of the main characters is an ex-priest from Los Angeles who happened to pick Venice as his first stop on a European vacation. The book has three overlapping story lines, one set in the Etruscan period, one in the 1770's and the last is contemporary. The Etruscan and the 1770's stories are ok. The ending of the 1770's story leaves one with unanswered questions.
review 2: I am willing to suspend disbelief, but this was too much of a stretch. The Etruscan figures seemed cartoonish, I cannot comment on the bulk of the book or the ending, just could not get past my disappointment with the first part of the book. less
