review 1: The plot description reeled me in, the 3 diversions from the story hit a snag in the flow of the book. I find that Maxwell's disregard that he had a job to perform was a major hole in the story. (Even if the author foreshadows the company's financial downfall) It seemed too convenient for Max (and Coe) to use the excuse of the trip-just to disregard a job he was expected to perform and instead manipulate a free ride and a hotel to go find his TERRIBLE PRIVACY.

Een geestige en afwisselende vertelvorm. Verder geeft het boek ook een interessant tijdsbeeld door vaak te... more refereren aan de bankencrisis en de moderne digitale ontwikkelingen. Een typische Jonathan Coe: speels en vol plotwendingen, meeslepend en onderhoudend. Maar het einde.... ik weet het niet hoor. Ik hou er niet zo van. less
