review 1: There is so much that I can say about this book. I'll start by saying that this book deserves much more attention, and I wish more people would read it. From the very start it is beautifully written, and an extremely well-crafted novel. It would be classified as an apocalyptic book, but it so much more than that. It has elements of both Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and at its heart is an environmental piece about the destruction of our world by human hands. The author makes the characters and setting more real and attainable than any book I have read in a long time, and while reading this book I became completely absorbed. Please, read this book, it is absolutely wonderful!
review 2: It took me a little while to get into this story. The first 100-150 pages struck
... moreme as YA and I almost put it down, but I have a hard time not finishing a book once I have started it. The story really took off for me when Gordon is taken to the camp with Brooke and her father. Then the story got good. By the end of the first book I couldn't wait for the second and was totally bummed that its not out yet. I'll definitely be buying book 2. I can't wait to find out what happens!! I really liked how the author brought the two time periods closer and closer together. A good read, worth it for sure. less
