review 1: Not fond of this because misunderstanding/miscommunication was used to drive most of the story. I thought it would be an endless cycle of: Percival being a jerk, then he apologizes, then Lachlan forgives him but they made up for good 3/4's of the way. Thank Goodness! It was kind of painful to read. Near the end, the story picked up a bit when Lachlan showed his assertiveness and then demostrated his mad swordfighting skills. Good for him!***There was a scene where a female was being fingered and double penetrated but was mentioned only briefly. I think readers should be warned if they don't like girly parts with their MM.
review 2: This fourth McMurray book gives us the story of the youngest Lord McMurray, Lachlan. The man may only be nineteen, and considered
... morea "baby" compared to the rhino elder's age of two thousand years, but he certainly has a few aces up his sleeves. The original reason for the mating is to fight off the vampires, and Elder Percival gladly uses that as an excuse, but it becomes obvious very quickly that these two are uniquely suited to each other.Lachlan is an interesting mix between totally insecure in matters of the heart and sex, and very experienced when politics, strategy, and representing as an elder's mate are concerned. He has learned the importance of presenting a "front" early, and is so good at it that he even fools Percival for a while. Granted, Percival, as a freshly mated rhino shifter, isn't too attentive or observant, but still. Lachlan thinks he has to protect himself and has no idea how to deal with Percival's reputation as a total player.Percival isn't one for social graces, and reading people isn't exactly a strength of his either. He's been alone for so long that he has forgotten how to live with a partner. He messes up numerous times, and it is a minor miracle Lachlan stays with him. But Percival also has a few redeeming qualities, one of them his ability to grovel and beg for forgiveness, and the other an ability to totally overwhelm Lachlan with the intensity of needing him.If you like shifters who need to understand and learn to live with their mate's peculiarities, if you enjoy reading about them becoming quite the exhibitionists, and if you liked the other books in this series, you will probably enjoy this story as well. less

Worst of the series as of date of publication. They are getting so unimaginative...

Misunderstanding and Miscommunication spoil this story and made it very boring.
