review 1: If you're looking for a book that will grip you on the edge of your seat, navigate a nervous knot into your stomach, and utterly fascinate that morbidly curious side of you that you just can't quench...this is it. You will run the gamut of human emotion as you stumble from one story and root yourself into another. The sheer amount of detail in each story is impressive and greatly contributes to the intense imagery. Things get a little strange, a little creepy, and even a little relatable at times. With this anthology, Hamantaschen has successfully maneuvered his way into one of my favorites in this genre. I want more.
review 2: Stories to make you go "hmmm". First thing I have to say is that I'm glad I read this on my Kindle because I needed to look up a lot of
... more words I honestly had never seen before! After some of the things I had read about this book, I was really hoping to be quaking under my sheets with each reading. I did spend two nights reading in the dark, but unfortunately, I didn't lose any sleep from fear of closing my eyes. I'm sure the fault is mostly my own because I have been a horror fan since VCRs came out and I was finally able to watch all the horror movies I wasn't allowed to see in the theater. Around that same time I got hooked on Stephen King. So all these years later, it takes a lot to freak me out. The last story was the trippiest, but I ended up skimming quickly over several pages because it felt impossibly long. Now that I'm done I feel a strong need to read some Lovecraft. less
