review 1: Secret Vampire, public PI, Samantha Moon isn't having a good time of it. Her louse of an ex-husband is keeping her away from her kids under the threat of exposure of her supernatural existence. Her two new cases are to protect a young woman from an ex that has tried several times to kill her, despite being on death row already and to help a widower bring his wife's killer to justice. There was still fun banter with Samantha's wannabe boyfriend (who happens to be a werewolf) but the overall tone is getting darker as Samantha seems to be embracing her less human side.
review 2: Being a fan of vampires and werewolves, I have fallen in love with this series. In this book, Samantha Moon is starting to break out of her cozy vampire mommy shell. She abilities are gett
... moreing stronger, and her personal life has been shot to hell. When she starts taking justice into her own hands a bit, we see just how far she can be pushed before she pushes back. As others have said, yes, the book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, but since I bought my copy as part of the omnibus with the first four novels, this didn't bother me as much as it could have. Technically, the action itself is resolved, so it is not a true cliffhanger, but it does end in a cliffhanger. I have read many of JR Rain's novels, and I would recommend this author to all lovers of the paranormal. less
