review 1: 'Vampire Dawn' turned out to be another great book in this series from the talented J.R. Rain. The storyline was exciting, thrilling, full of action and full of humor. I love Samantha's sense of humor. She keeps honing her skills and becomes more bad-ass in each book. The way this storyline played out was great. I love the characters. With some series, after about the third book, it kinda goes downhill and there isn't a lot of newness within. But this series just keeps getting better for me. A definite must read.
review 2: I love this series so, as always, I was glad to get back to Samantha Moon's world! The beginning had a bit of that 'Dean Koontz ramble', which is good or bad depending on who you're talking to. I like a bit of ramble but it can go too far..
... more.the part about the flying was a little more ramble than I can handle; while it would have been nice to have seen a little more time devoted to Fang. His part in this installment was a little sad, rushed, and not at all resolved by the end which was for me a pretty big downer. Also didn't feel like the ex's dilemma was given enough attention. I hardly believe that a little one night ass kicking got a hardcore gang of guys to give up their nice little set-up of free income...but that's just me. Maybe this will be picked up in the next book??? Oh, yeah...what was the deal with the dudes with the crossbows? That was not entirely explained either. I guess there were just far more loose ends in this book than I can usually appreciate... Still, Samantha Moon has my heart, I love her and her friends and I feel she is coming along rather well; adapting to her situation in a way that is necessary, --but I love how she recognizes it as it is and sees how her humanity or loss of is changing her in ways she doesn't necessarily want to let go of. There was a hook set very briefly at one point (but no way did it get past me!) about there being a 'reason' Samantha was chosen to be bitten. I hope the author will use and flesh that idea out properly as that could be quite interesting. less

I have a girl crush on Samantha. I get all tingly when she slaps bad guys around.
