review 1: *4.5 STARS*What a pleasant surprise this story turned out to be! Honestly I didn't expect much out of it, but it turned out to be a very entertaining read that held my complete interest for the 45 minutes that I was reading this novella. Although this is the third of the series, it can be a complete stand alone read. I read this without reading the previous two and it still made perfect sense. The book description provides a thorough summary of the story so I won't repeat it. What I will say is that this author has won herself a new fan.All I Want for Christmas was a such fun delight. Although this story was short, the characters were fleshed out and the storyline was well-written. Gavin and Faith had a sizzling chemistry and their relationship didn't felt forced or unbelie... morevable. Although their relationship progressed at a fast pace, the author made it work where it doesn't leave the reader questioning or in disbelief. The story also flowed smoothly which made it an easy read. The love scenes were steamy and well-written also. The pacing was also perfect; it didn't dull out the story or leave me bored. In fact, I was entertained all the way and the time spent reading this short story was worth every minute. J.S. Scott also threw in humor, emotions, and a very satisfying ending that left me grinning from ear to ear. Gavin and Faith's Christmas spirits were very low, but they both experienced a special Christmas miracle that neither one expected. In all, All I Want For Christmas is a Werewolf was a delicious treat. For a short story, author J.S. Scott packed in a lot that made this short story a completely fulfilling read.
review 2: ★★½... I got ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A WEREWOLF because I'm a sucker for wolf shifters and the author is NTM. It met my expectations—a quick holiday-themed story with a bit of sex. Several standard werewolf/shifter tropes were present and the ending was utterly predictable but for a freebie, I can't complain. However, I think that the story would've been stronger if it had focused more on the current mating as opposed to rehashing in detail what went wrong with Gavin's first mating. Also, the three-week jump forward in plot was a bit jarring. With more individual introspection instead of interaction, it was hard to buy their love/HEA beyond the metaphysical mating connection.ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A WEREWOLF turned out to be about 30 Kindle pages/screen (taking into account the 150% line spacing and larger TNR font). There were one or two minor plot inconsistencies and editing/proofing errors were within the "we're all human" range. Overall, it was written well enough so that I could consider trying this author again in future. But probably only if the next story was more developed and longer. less
