review 1: Camille Gardner works for the oil company that wants to drill in the middle of an art colony in Louisiana. Sweet Olive's residents have hired a lawyer, Marsh to try and stop the drilling. Camille discovers that the company has been illegally stealing the mineral rights in town and decides to help the Sweet Olive residents. She finds out her father was once a resident and she and her mother become closer . A good read with a Christian tone, not overly preachy.
review 2: Typically, faith-based novels, especially those with romance elements, tend to be so overly syrupy, perfection forced, and prim-and-proper stilted that they ring false. ... morearacter, Camille, is an Landman for a family owned drilling company. She is strong, intelligent and resourceful - though far from perfect. She struggles with broken pieces of her past, yet she is not melodramatic or portrayed as a victim in need of a knight in shining armor. Supporting characters, some quaint, some savvy, some eccentric, are equally well-developed and believable. The storyline centering around the impending controversial purchase of landowner mineral rights is relevant and impacting. And the northern Louisiana town setting is portrayed like many southern small towns - picturesque affluence mixed with dilapidated better days. Personality, I think this novel has the potential to be an excellent uplifting movie. A highly recommended very good read. less
