review 1: This book actually only deserves half a star. The content in the book was constructed so shallowly and haphazardly that it made no sense half the time. The plot was almost as shallow as the characters who had no character development. I mean Nina went backwards in her character development. At first she was ok and questioned the oppressive government and media and tried to be an individual but as soon as she meets Sal who she interacts with for a whole of five sentences she's like oh yeah I wouldn't mind having sex at all because he is sooo cute. And the love triangle just needed to be resolved right away. As soon as Nina met Sal , Derek just needed to be out of the picture and Wei coincidentally started liking him at that perfect moment even though they had gone to schoo... morel together for basically their entire lives and they never liked each other then. And I don't even know what the main character looks like because even though everyone says that Nina looks like her father, nobody ever describes to be what either of them look like. So Nina has a face to match her personality, bland and non-existent. And trannies are you serious, they're basically cars so why couldn't they just be called cars I don't understand, just by changing the name of the system of transport does it mean a futuristic scene is created. And to top it all off the book had just about as many spelling mistakes as my review is probably going to have and I'm ranting. Editor you had one job. Like seriously, :" Wei-I had to get back to her, but what if Ed came to?" T-O-O it's a three letter word! How hard can it be to spell. Yeah this book was very very very rough around the edges and I was really disappointed because the blurb had promised me a good read and boy was I wrong .
review 2: Oh was this painful to get through. The last 50 or so pages picked up a little bit, but it was not enough to save the book. Let's start the review: this book is almost entirely about warning girls away from sex and chastising those who flirt with boys. Now, I wouldn't have minded this if it was only a little bit here and there. But no, the entire first half of the book is basically just preaching to the reader. Then in comes boy. Girl discovers she likes boy, boy likes girl, they kiss and "wrestle" like young kids do. But it's okay, the main character is still wholesome and good and clean. But her best friend who dresses in short, tight clothes and flirts with boys is a disgusting slut who needs to be corrected in her ways. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't reconcile that. The underlying story could have been a good one, but it was buried too deeply under the judgement. I really wouldn't not recommend this to anyone. less

I liked how this book was laid out. It is very mature about some things. It was good.

No book that uses transphobic slurs and/or misogynistic ideas is worth my time.
