review 1: I'll be honest, when I pick up a romance novel my expectations for a good read is marginal because I know going in it is all about the hot characters and even hotter sex. So, imagine my surprise when I began reading "Offside" and discover a rather imaginative plot with a twist and some colorful characters. The Barker triplets, Billie Jo, Bobby Jo, and you guessed it, Betty Jo have always been more than a handful in the small town in which they were raised but now Billie is home from Europe when a hockey concussion eliminates her from the professional team in which she was playing. However, who knew that when she walked into the sport's shop to get her skates sharpened, she would set the whole town on it's ear when she announces she plans to play hockey on the local all mal... moree team. The guys are not happy about it except for sexy as hell, Logan Forest and even recently refined, Bobby Jo isn't pleased her sister is running around causing dissension. As the games begin, Billie will have to contend with more than just the opposing team but her jackass teammates as well. However, leave it to Logan to stop the harassment Billie experiences and want to smooth over her ruffled feathers. As a matter of fact, it's all Billie can do to try to avoid Logan, the heartthrob, source of her desires and the very man who once dated her sister, Betty. Oh what a tangled web we weave! Not having any real knowledge of hockey, this book provided me with a little insight into the sport. I loved Billie's heart and determination to make her jackass teammates eat some humble pie. I also loved how having a woman play on an all male team caused such a ruckus in small-town suburbia. There's a wonderful sense of cheering on the underdog in this story and the sex scenes are pretty hot as well. I definitely will be going on to read the next book in this series.
review 2: Hockey is hot. Sports books are hot. Logan is hot. Billie-Jo is a triplet who has harbored a massive crush on Logan most of her life. Small town hockey is taken very seriously and Billie playing hockey in the men's league isn't flying too well. Logan is one of the first ones who stands by her desire to play, and he quickly realized that there is more desire for her than playing hockey. They steam up the ice and the sheets, but Billie has a big secret. Once it's exposed, can Logan forgive and move forward with his hockey queen? less
