Hello reader/s! For a while now, I’ve been writing a bi-weekly post about books that are on my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them. In hopes of reading them sooner than later.
For today’s post I’ll be talking a little about 2 Fictional books that have been on my mind for a while. One more-so than the other, but they’ve both been on my shelves for a while now.
The first book I’m going to be talking about is one that I started crying about 
almost immediately once I started reading. — This book is named The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. The only thing that I know about this novel is that 1. It makes me incredibly emotional, and 2. It’s about a dog giving his life to save his owner? I’m not all entirely sure about that second point.
Little fact!: I initially borrowed this book from the library, and once I had that initial reaction I told myself that I would buy a copy of the book and return the library book. It just so happened that I later went to a used bookstore and found the book!
I’m avoiding reading the synopsis for this story since I don’t want to predict what happens…Even though I’m pretty sure that the dog dies. Which I am for sure going to sob about.
The second book is called Vesper by Jeff Sampson.
I found Vesper on Goodreads, searched for it at my local library and they had it! When the day came to go to the library and pick it up, I had the random thought to look at the little library sales rack they have, and low and behold, they had Vesper for sale. I ended up returning the library copy -the one I just borrowed- and bought the paperback for a dollar!
Vesper is a YA Fantasy/Paranormal book about werewolves. I’m honestly a sucker for werewolves -and vampire- novels, so I have got to read Vesper. The spiel behind Vesper is that the main character, Emily, is a geek and she’s proud of it. She likes hiding under her hoodie and watching horror flicks at home. — And then one night, her classmate, also named Emily, ends up murdered. Soon after Emily herself becomes more violent. …But only at night. By day Emily is the same old Emily she always was. Yet at night, its like Emily is a different person, or becoming something else entirely. Emily soon realizes that she isn’t the only one who has this happening to her–her other classmates are changing as well. But into what? Emily searches for answers, but time might be running out.
Vesper is sounding more and more like a mystery novel, yet the mystery genre isn’t associated with Vesper on it’s Goodreads page. Which is odd, but I haven’t read the book yet, so I don’t know myself if Vesper is actually a mystery or not.
