review 1: This is my second book that I’ve read in this series as I’m reading them out of order but one thing that’s constant in these books is the characters seem to fall into bed very easily…especially the women. It’s kind of unsettling considering I like reading historical romance book because of the innocence of the era and the people. They usually move at a slower pace than your modern day couple…it’s refreshing to see couples slowly come to together and communicate and sometimes argue along the way. But this series have such aggressive and overly sexual heroines. I’m not sure if it’s due to the era being the Victorian era or what…but this book did not have much of a storyline…no true depth or heart tugging moments….no adventure. Charlotte was worse than... more a mistress…at least with a mistress they get jewels, they get taken out to dinner and the opera…not Charlotte…she got nothing but a good roll in the hay…and yet she was so in love…came off very desperate.
review 2: Eternal Love! I just had the opportunity to read "Seduced at Sunset" written by Julianne MacLean, which is the conclusion of the Pembroke Palace series. You will enjoy Charlotte and Drake's story! But it is also the happy story of Adelaide and William whom you should remember if you have read her previous books in this series. This story was fantastic from beginning to end. Really breathtaking! Lady Charlotte, Adelaide's daughter is the last unmarried sibling of the family. The story begins as she believes that she has a charmed life as an independent writer, but discovers that something is missing in her love life! Being attacked on the street, she is suddenly rescued by a gentleman named Drake Torrington. As soon as they meet, sparks will flare between the two and she becomes mad of desire for him. They both decide to have a casual sexual accounter, but both find out, there is more than sex in this relationship. Drake had only expected to have sex with Charlotte, but he finds her mysterious and fascinating. Now, she wants more than a summer affair. They share secrets which I will not share with you; you will have to read the book to know. Charlotte's mother, Adelaide and William, Charlotte and Garrett, true father, have a second chance to be reunited. Will their love survive after so many years! You will enjoy a beautiful romance with inflamed love scenes! Julianne MacLean is a high-quality writer that kept my interest throughout the book. I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down. Do read her complete Pembroke Palace series! My favorite book was "In my Wildest Fantasies". This author has also written THE ROYAL Trilogy of which "The Prince's Bride" will be released on April 30th 2013. Another breathtaking Regency novel! If you are a fan of Julianne MacLean, you won't be disappointed. less
