review 1: I was given a copy from net galley to read and review. This was a quick read for me. The writing is good but predictable. The romance is nice but nothing spectacular. I enjoy the originality of the conflict but the plot is some what unbelievable in parts. As stated its a good quick romance. I did enjoy the world created, having not read the first two books in the series, it can stands alone. There are references to the main characters of those other books and minor appearances from them but in no way affect the story line. I'd take it or leave it, not sure I'll read the others in the series as it seems fair predictable and similar to other highlander books I've read.
review 2: I have been waiting for Knox's story in the MacKensie series. I felt that it was too
... more slow in starting but enjoyed it overall. Amelia is fleeing a gang lord from Edinburgh to the Highlands and meets up with Knox's sisters. It was love at first sight, or at least lust, for the both of them. Their tale involves intrigue, a little gambling, some romance, but a lot of time spent in Amelia's thoughts. It was not what I expected. less
