Marked in Flesh is the fourth (4th) book in The Others series by Anne Bishop. There are a few triggers in each book, yet the re-occurring triggers are Self Harm and Rape Mention.
I didn’t know what to expect at all when I read Marked in Flesh. All I knew was that this fourth book would be a very interesting one, with incredibly high stakes involved. There is so much that the characters in this story could lose. Just like in the other books before Marked in Flesh, there are some characters who lose and have lost a lot.
What I like most about reading the The Others series is that I don’t know what to expect when I read the book. I don’t read the synopsis, which leads me to have a more open mind on what could possibly happen.
I laughed quite a bit in this novel. I had hoped that there would be some laughter on my end of the story. And there was! There’s also a TON of badass-ery all around. I loved every minute of it.
For most of this novel there’s a sense of doom and I’ve got to be honest and tell you that I really enjoyed the Doom part of this novel. It was creepy as heck and seeing all of my favourite characters freak out was quite a different pace of story.
I liked that Marked in Flesh, the humans finally got what they were asking for.
