review 1: I'm loving this world, and I'm a sucker for anything fae, but a few plot inconsistencies and typographical errors really detracted from a good, fun, three star read. For example: after doing grave magic, our heroine typically goes blind for a period, but is somehow able to still see the sculpted abs of love interest as he approaches her. And no she hadn't "turned on" her magic momentarily because she was sitting on her bed, and anything she touches when grave magic is on, decays. Just a small but annoyingly detracting example.
review 2: I wasn't a fan of the first book in the series. I thought the premise was great, but had trouble connecting with the characters. I'm really glad I stuck with the series and gave Grave Dance a try, because I liked it a lot bet... moreter. The characters behaved more rationally, overall, and the secondary characters like Caleb and Holly seemed less like cardboard cutouts.I enjoyed the new restrictions Alex has that have manifested with her Fae heritage (the inability to lie, debt imbalance, and iron allergy). Alex's forays into the world of Fae politics was fun - I particularly liked the king of the nightmare realm.Though I am not a fan of love triangles, I didn't hate it in this book. I liked the fact that we got a little bit of Falin's background, and found him to be a much more sympathetic character than in Book 1. However, I would have liked to see more of Death. There is still so much we don't know about him, and I think his character is going to be one of the most interesting in the series. less
