review 1: Did not like it at all just like other books in this series have given it a try multiple times because of friends suggesting it and enjoying it. I however did not, maybe too old, maybe just not for me. Others read if want I however did not like the series it could not keep my attention so kept skipping forward to see if it would and it never did. Plot did not keep my attention so for that reason I am giving it the review I am.
review 2: The author's point in writing "Beautiful Chaos" is to entertain the reader. This book is the third book in this series, so she was also just continuing the story. She succeeded in entertaining me, because this book was very mysterious and left me in suspense a lot of the time. An example of the suspense she adds is when the kid
... morein the hospital writes, "this is the way the world ends," (p.174) over and over. There are many more examples of the mystery and suspense, but I don't want to ruin the story. So Kami Garcia succeeded in her point of entertaining the reader. Going along with the suspense and mystery, the theme of this book is fighting the demons within yourself. Ethan and Lena have been fighting real demons throughout the whole story, but this book is more about fighting the demons within themselves. Throughout the story Lena and Ethan are trying to figure out who "the one who is two" is. They have many leads, but none of them is the right one. When they find out who it is, that is when they theme of the novel comes in. I cannot say who "the one who is two" is because that would ruin the whole book, but the theme really comes with "the one who is two". This novel is obviously a narration because it is the exact definition! It is the telling of a story through a series of events that describes what happened in chronological order. This novel explained what happened in Ethan's and Lena's lives and when they happened. A very simple example of describing the event in which it happened is "I reached out and touched the circles". The novel may have had its flashbacks, but most of the time it told their lives in the order that it all happened. Which makes "Beautiful Chaos" the perfect example of a narration. Since it is the perfect example of a narration, I'd say the way Kami Garcia wrote this book or her "style" was very effective. I really liked this book and would definitely recommend it to my friends. I like the book because of all the things mentioned above and because I have just liked these types of books since reading the first one, "Beautiful Creatures". What I really liked about this novel was all the flashbacks. The flashbacks were mostly about Sarafine, which is Lena's mother and the darkest caster of all. A little bit of one of these flashbacks is "Emmaline stared into her daughter's glowing yellow eyes, then turned away. 'Her name isn't Izabel anymore. It's Sarafine'". (p.88) I love this quote so much because it just explains all emotions the book gave me: suspense, sadness, happiness, and many more. So overall there wasn't much I did not like about the book. This book was just too good to dislike. The only thing I might change is the ending, but that is only because something happens to one of my favorite characters and I'm not sure if I like that or not. So I may only change the ending. This book is not really similar to any other books I've read. Its very unique and that is just another thing I love about it. So I just really like this book and I'm glad I had the chance to read it! less
