review 1: I really enjoyed all 4 stories. I do love a good fantasy book! I really got to know the characters and felt connected with all of them and enjoyed reading about all of them.There is so much to this book and sadly it has come to a end. I am glad that it was a ending I liked, even though it wasn't the perfect happy ending but none the less a good one.I would recommend this book!
review 2: This series started with the movie (which I was not a fan of). However, I kept thinking there has to be a good story somewhere and I'm so glad the movie lead me to these books. I couldn't put them down. I haven't found a series that drew me in like the Caster Chronicles in quite sometime. Beautiful Creatures book #1 is about young Lena Duchannes who has moved in with her Uncle... more in Gatlin, South Carolina. Ethan Wates is a young man from Gatlin who has been dreaming of an unknown girl. When he meets Lena he knows she is the girl who has been haunting his dreams. The two are pretty much instantly connected. Lena Duchannes is not your ordinary South Carolina girl. She comes from a family of castors. In their family on your 16th birthday your true light comes forth and you are claimed for either light or dark. The connection Lena and Ethan share, the mystery of the past, the visions there is so much I could share but I don't want to give any spoilers. It all leads up to one great book 1 in the Castor Chronicle Series .Book #2 Beautiful Darkness is even better than #1. Beautiful Darkness is very detailed, and the characters are both charming and complicated. You have the same characters from book 1 along with some new ones to mix it up a bit. Being from the South I absolutely love the Southern backdrop, lore and culture that is shared. You start out back in South Carolina and end up in Savannah Georgia one of my favorite places. Lena and Ethan are struggling with what happened on her 16th Birthday (book 1 you definitely want to read it first). Lena is almost paralyzed with the consequences of her actions. She can not face what she has done, or what is to come. Her grief and fear have her pushing Ethan away. After not being claimed by the dark in Beautiful Creatures you would have expected Lena to be happy. Instead this is where the story really is taking off. Lena's mother Saraphine is back and calling the seventeenth moon. Lena will still have to face the claiming and the ending will leave you shocked! This book shares a lot more of Amma, of Ethan's mother and the old kind of magic. I love the many different characters and how they are all working together or against each other for either light or dark to prevail. Secrets are coming out , mysteries being solved, and young love in the air .Book #3 Beautiful Chaos For me Beautiful Chaos began slower than the first two. It gets better and before its over I was doing the ugly cry as I read . This book is way darker than the first two. ONe thing for sure the characters you've grown to love are in for a lot of turmoil. Book #4 Goodbye Caster Chronicles. Book 4 is unlike the other three in this series. Where the first three books are all about Lena Duchane this book is all about Ethan Wate and his journey to return home. Beautiful Redemption is a solid ending to a very good YA series."I guess that's the thing about a hero's journey. You might not start out a hero, and you might not even come back that way.
