review 1: Misao is determined to give birth to her and Kyo's baby, but what does that spell for Kyo's psyche? When Kyo's father approaches him and tells him of a spell to stop time for Misao and preserve her just as she is, he is very tempted...Kyo later tries to tell Misao of this method but she refuses when she thinks of all the decades she might be asleep and frozen while everyone else will be looking for a way to keep her alive once she gives birth and aging and may even be dead when she awakes again. Unable to deal with the harsh reality of losing Misao in less than nine months he tries to force the spell on her, but she runs away from him and because of the stress put on her by the struggle she collapses with blood running down her leg. Has she lost the baby...?!I really liked... more the character development in this volume. We really get to see a new side of Kyo. Misao too, but who didn't see this development coming? I really like how Sagami acts in this volume too, and pretty much all the other Daitengu! I didn't know each of them loved Misao so much. I guess it's true you only appreciate what you've got when it's gone. Also, I am so glad that Ayame gets more screen time. 8'D Haha. But really, this was a great volume and it's almost sad to see it end already. Well! One more volume to go! C'moonn March 4th!
review 2: In this volume, Kyo spends entirely too much time obsessing about finding a way to keep Misao from dying (since we all already know she is supposed to die as she has the baby). Then, in comes his father to tell him that his brother, Sho, already knew a Preservation Spell to preserve the Senka Maiden. Now, this preservation his father speaks of is not the happy yay!-we-now-be-together-as-one-big-happy-family-forever-if-you-do-this-spell-as-soon-as-Misao-gives-birth-to-the-child type of spell. Instead, it's the we-should-preserve-Misao-while-she-is-still-preggy-and-freeze-her-forever-in-time-at-her-present-age-while-Kyo-continues-getting-older-then-dies-a-sad-and-lonely-death type spell. I did not like how Kyo acted, either, as if Misao were to absolutely have to have this spell performed on her, even if it were against what she truly wishes for her and the baby. Kyo acted as though her feelings meant nothing. That is, until she collapsed, and had her "future baby" dream. In my opinion, it never should have come to that point. And, having to have his people hold him off her, persay, was a bit farfetched as well. If Kyo loves Misao as much as he says, he needs to act like it.-------------------- It took a nice turn after he finally accepted Misao's thoughts on the matter, but it took too long for that to happen. I honestly hope she gets to have the baby normally, or even c-section, and that Kyo never uses the Preservation Spell on her.-------------------- This volume was presented to be as an eManga by VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own. less
