review 1: I HAVE FINALLY FINISH THIS SERIES.I remember reading this a long time ago (yeah, some of my mangas were read waay back in the past)I LOVE IT. I DEVOUR IT.The elements are very interesting, the settings are just awesome, and the characters are a bunch of hopes.I think I'm going to re-read the whole series, to set up some of the things I forgot. After all, love will always show a way.
review 2: I've always had issues with Kyou and Misao's relationship ever since their first encounter. Whoever said childhood love stories are always the greatest needs to take a look at this one. Although they may have evolved as a couple throughout the series, Kyou is still a problematic character to me. He hasn't lost an once of his selfish douchebaggery and controlling demeanour,
... morenot even in the extra chapters where he's being his usual disgusting prick with his son. The reason I stuck through Black Bird is mainly because of the plot. Surprising, eh? In fact, this wasn't your typical shoujo. Not only this was 'sexier' and more graphic than expected from this genre – a bold decision from the mangaka, I'll give her that – but it had somewhat of a shounen feel to it, with just the right amount of humour, fighting scenes (swords are involved... yes, in a shoujo!) and angsty moments. It kept me guessing until the very last chapter and I couldn't tell how things would wrap up considering the Senka's impending death.Overall, an enjoyable supernatural read and a great conclusion to the series altogether, even though I found myself cringing at the protagonist and her overbearing love interest countless times. It was an interesting story, however, to me, it suffers from the aggressive Alpha Male with a soft side and the passive female who excuses everything for love.I'm feeling benevolent, so I'll give it 3 stars nevertheless for a fairly decent plot that stands out in the shoujo genre, loveable secondary characters and absolutely gorgeous artwork. less

Like most shojo manga, the ending was wrapped up neatly with a big red bow and I enjoyed it.
