review 1: I'm very slowly becoming less and less of a fan of Misao and Kyo as a couple with every volume. I wasn't very impressed with the previous volume, either.First of all, he's vindictive, obsessive and a bit of an asshole. Misao kisses Sho in the previous volume in order to poison him to help Kyo, and he promptly returns the gesture in this volume by causing Misao to think he's going to cheat on her with the Prince of Kengamine's sister. Then, after Misao learns that Kyo's not going to cheat on her, they immediately retire to private quarters to eat Nutella (not really Nutella, but whatever) off each other? Then spend the night at Misao's, where they have a bath together? Oh! But they're not allowed to touch!Cool. Cool cool cool.I really don't get these two. I really don't. I ... moremean, one minute, Misao is trying to be an adult and being mature and plotting and shit. The next, she's being a child who can't even handle talking about sex again. Honestly, fucking pick one! Then, there's Kyo, who can barely let Misao out of his sight, loves her oh, so much!, but then has no problem making the girl feel like shit and causes her to cry for any reason whatsoever.I guess I'm just mildly infuriated that the Prince of Kengamine was only there for Kyo to enact some kind of twisted, psychological revenge on Misao. I actually thought Sakurakoji was going somewhere much better than that!Oh, and of course Raikoh would be the son of a priest, has been previously attacked by a demon and have mystical powers. Fuck off. He clearly does more harm than good here. This girl gets put under more spells than Harry fucking Houdini. Not to mention, Raikoh has to be a dick about Kyo's feather, rip it off Misao and throw it into the gutter. The volume cover itself was meh, but the chapter covers were gorgeous. The rest of the artwork was beautiful too, of course. I'm not saying much more on the artwork. I don't like to comment much on artwork while reading multiple mangas. It's impossible to compare Rumiko Takahashi's artwork in InuYasha to Kanoko Sakurakoji's in Black Bird. But, come on, Sakurakoji. You can do better than this.
review 2: Ah, perhaps I'm just getting a little tired of this series. Misao's not a total wimp anymore, and Kyo's slowly becoming more likable, but the plot just seems forced anymore. It's all about, "I wants sexy time but can't haz it!" and "Oh no! New bad guy! If we don't haz sexy time Kyo will get his butt kicked and die but he hasn't yet despite this being the plot of almost half the books!"...The bonus story that had nothing to do with anything was probably the best part. I actually wish "Angels" was longer, perhaps a one-shot book on its own...Anyway, this series gets one more chance. If next book doesn't wow me, I quit. less
