review 1: Somehow, in my binge-reading of YA lately, this book found me from the shelves of Tattered Cover. Maybe it's because the author's in Seattle. Who knows? I'm so glad I read this book. These characters, especially "Celia the Dark," are so real and compelling. A very strong tale of what bullying can do to kids, yet it's subtle and not preachy. Celia's friendship with new kid Drake forms a strong core the story and, despite Celia's obsession with revenge, I found myself rooting for her.
review 2: I was kind of skeptical of this book, especially since it seemed with the new kid coming to town and suddenly being interested in her, but I was pleasantly surprised. Without going into too much detail, this book had the perfect mixture of sad, funny, snarky and a fantasti... morec plot. Honestly, this story reminded me of my freshman year, almost to a T. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun story that makes you reminisce about your first weeks as "Freshmeat." less
