review 1: I hesitated to read the series but wanted some light reading after too many 'heavy' non-fiction books. Since I am a woman of a certain age (read older than 60) I knew this was geared toward a younger set but I loved the Divergent and Hunger Games series so gave it a try. Started a little slow but once the location changed to Dublin and the characters dropping into the book became more curious I was hooked. The main character became more believable and the story line fantasy, fun and sexy with a scary dark side. Luckily I started the series after the first 6 books had been written do was able to close one and pick up the next. The last book, Iced, was not as great but the series is full of great characters, a hot man, and twists that keep you reading more. Scary and frighte... morening at times. I loved it. Sexy and hot at other times. Even better.
review 2: Hands down, this series is the best thing ever created in the history of mankind. I've read the series a couple times just because this books sucks you in. You feel like this world that is so vivid and painstakingly detailed is more real than reality. This series has changed my standards of what a good book is and had even changed my viw on life. (Cheesy AF, I know.) The characters are epic. They are so real and complex and dynamic. KMM portrays a fact that many authors fail at: People are more than 1-2 traits. I know in one week I have about 395 different moods, so why are most characters only ONE thing throughout an entire novel? I love the variety of the characters and all the stages they go through. The story itself and the relationship between Mac and Barrons is entirely intoxicating. The biggest problem with this book is that once you read it, every other book you attempt to read is like hearing nails on a chalkboard. KMM, you both made my life and ruined it with one little series. Thank you. less
