The Fisherman's Children
review 1: Another excellent Part 1 by one of my favorite authors! I always get so caught up in her stories, I actually find myself speaking in the same manner as the main characters. For instance, I referred to the guy w who cut me of the other day as a "poxy little shit" and found myself "reckonin" "a time or three" when I had a spare "ticktock" to do so. I've already purchased the next book so that it's my next adventure!
review 2: Looking at other reviews, readers seem to be strongly divided into those who love this series and those that hate it. For the the haters, you're going to find same old: Asher is still his annoying self, his son, Rafel, is almost as bad, while his Doranen rival, Arlington, is even worse. Rafel's sister, Deenie is a tearful mess - in fact,
... moreshe is so overdone, you just know she's going to turn out to be the heroine, though I haven't yet read far enough into the next book to confirm my suspicions. Anyway, if you didn't like what went before, this book won't change your mind. For those of us who like the series it is of course continuing enjoyment.I'm still not quite sure what this series is really about - I suppose it's that power brings corruption and the greater the power, the greater the danger. Nothing startlingly new, but good fun to read. less
