Caprice De Luca Mystery
review 1: I love watching house decorating and renovation shows, so I was intrigued with this series where the main character, Caprice De Luca, works as an interior designer whose specialty is home staging. I really enjoyed this first book in the series because not only did it involve an interesting career choice, but Caprice and her family and friends comprised an interesting and quirky set of characters. The story has Caprice reunited with an old friend, Roz, when she is asked to stage their mansion currently sitting unsold on the open house market. In staging the home, Caprice realizes that Roz and her husband, Ted, are not in a happy relationship. Then during the open house, Caprice accidentally spots Ted in a romantic embrace with another woman. A few days later, Caprice goes ... moreto meet with Roz but as they come into the mansion, they come upon Ted's murdered body. Caprice realizes she needs to investigate this case because the police seem to be only focused on her friend as their prime suspect. Along the way, Caprice begins dating the new doctor in town, Seth, as well as developing a friendship with her brother' s law partner, Grant. Good mystery with some interesting twists. I am looking forward to the next book in this series to find out more about her family and her relationship possibilities.
review 2: Caprice De Luca is in the home staging business in Kismet, Pennsylvania. She helps clients display their homes using a specific theme. Her latest job is for her friend, Roz Winslow. The showing goes well but what happens next is not what she expects. Caprice finds Ted, Roz's husband, dead. He has been stabbed with one of his prized daggers. Now Roz is the main suspect. Caprice is determined to help her. She will find the killer. Or die trying. Karen Rose Smith has written an engaging and suspenseful mystery. Caprice is smart, resourceful and witty. I love that she is an animal lover who rescues strays. Caprice is surrounded by characters who give the story that special zing and a touch of romance. This is such a well plotted story. I didn't know until the very end who the killer was. I can't wait for Caprice's next adventure. If you love a cozy mystery, this is the book for you. less

Good debut. A little one dimensional, but generally likable. I will try the next one.
