review 1: This was a really fast read. While I wanted to believe in Sophie as a character, I found too many issues with her supporting cast. Her mother drove me crazy by wanting to run away from everything whenever it got tough, and Finny was too perfect for me. Sophie is either an early blooming schizophrenic, or travels between alternate realities of this universe. Either way, it seems like at least trying a round of medication might possibly help. If you liked Libba Bray's Going Bovine, which it is compared to on the cover, then you probably will like this book. (I wasn't a big fan of that either.)
review 2: Sophie Sophia is not your typical girl, she sews pockets on her clothes, listens to a mix tapes on her Walkman, likes science, and has a Panda as a shaman. Sophie
... more also has a habit of slipping into alternative universes uncontrollably, which can make it hard to fit in to high school, much less meeting a good friend. Through a mixture of 80's music lyrics, physics, fantastical panda styled episodes, and wit, you'll follow Sophie on her journey to discover the connection between her and her absent father. A thoughtful and fun way of looking at the world via string-theory and music. less
