review 1: This book is such a disappointment. It would have helped if Karina Halle read the Artists trilogy prior to writing Dirty Angels. Javier is so all over the place in this book, and so surprisingly and unexplainably human. This is such bull for a person like Javier. I don't know if the author really knows what she wanted for this character. He sacrificed his love for Ellie for power and revenge (a women whose clothes he kept for years even after she put him in prison); he never regretted his choices and never apologized for anything; he stepped on his heart and killed his soul to build his empire, and all of a sudden, he is ready to give everything up for a women he isn't even sure he loves. Luisa is so stupid and shallow and naïve, and their dialog is so cheesy. I read the ... moreArtists trilogy mostly because Javier was such a mysterious, complex and intense character. I am not sure whom I read about in Dirty Angels. I could not believe that it's the same author.
review 2: Great great story! I love Javier and Luisa. She is absolutely perfect for him. Though this story can be a standalone. It was great to have the insight of Ellie and The Artist Trilogy while reading. I don thing you'd feel like you missed anything, but there were definitely something's that were more significant having met Javier before this book. This was a great roller coaster ride! I would expect nothing less from my favorite drug lord. less
