review 1: A good solid read with quite interesting side characters on top of the hero/heroine. The heroine does rather steal the story from the hero; she sacrifices her chances of a respectable life by becoming an actress in order to support her family. There are her 2 servants who are terribly protective of their mistress to ensure she is never harassed by the men who are all totally enamored with the beautiful actress. When her elderly aunt passes, in order to retain her annual allowance Blaine then disguises herself & pretends to be her aunt (Lady Yates) to dope the lawyer. It was quite exhausting when she plays the part of the elderly aunt during the day then switches over to the actress at night!I loved the scenes between Blaine when she was in disguise as Lady Yates for the ea... moresy camaraderie btwn them then.
review 2: Received this eBook as a gift from the author. This is part of the author’s Regency time period books. The story revolved around the theater during the Regency period. The women’s role and the inheritance priorities in this time period lead to a dubious, masquerading of the main character as she tries to save the family homestead after her fathers died. Her brother will inherit the homestead after he turns of age so in the meanwhile his older sister & their aunt need to provide the income . This leads to a woman finding a profitable job in a man’s world.It was an education to learn about the theater and how people viewed the performers. It was neat to learn about how the performers transformed themselves into their roles. The older sister takes on an anonymous working role and masquerades as the aunt. In the midst of this she falls in love anda humorous, witty relationship produces an interesting historical romance book.An very enjoyable book. less
