review 1: A Reader's Opinion: Rough, tough, and handsome are three ingredients for a great hero, and Dylan Brodie is such a man, and a chivalrous one at that. I enjoyed getting to know the first of the Brodie brothers in this new series. I loved the Alaska setting, and of course the nicely spun suspense and murder. The author did a nice job delivering in both the action and excitement departments. Lane is a fitting match for Dylan, and her gradual acceptance of him and Alaska felt natural. The romance was more sex than romance in the first 3/4 of the book. Those can sometimes go hand in hand, but in this case, it was just sex. I didn't feel the thrill of their relationship until the end of the book, but I'm glad it ended on a more romantic note. I personally didn't think the abundanc... moree of sex added anything to the story, but if you're like me, you skip over it and move onto the good stuff. There was plenty of good stuff to enjoy in 'Against the Wild' and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a good romantic suspense set in the wilds of Alaska. One of my favorite characters ended up being Nick, Dylan's brother. Another tough and handsome guy who will no doubt delight readers when he get's his own story. Note: This book (digital edition) was received by the publisher in exchange for an honest review during the author's book tour.
review 2: Against the Wild by Kat MartinHave read most of this series and this one is about Lane Bishop and how she's ready to move on with her life. She's a design expert in the lodge industry and accepts the job in Alaska. She's there after she's lost her fiance and arrives with Flynn the rescued dog.Arrives in Alaska to renovate the 1930 fishing lodge and meets up with not only Dylan Brody but the girl Emily who is not talking any longer, since her mother abandoned her and ran off with a lover. Ghosts haunt the place and he loves the atmosphere for running the fishing lodge. Love the scenes described in detail, love true nature. She uncovers many secrets and mysteries...sexual attraction to one another...hot spicy sex scenes. Love how they gather clues as to what's haunting the place...can't wait to read more of the family's books.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device). less
