review 1: Great read that was a continuation of the Raines in Wind Canyon series and the start of the Brodies of Alaska series. Reminiscent to me of books written by Debbie Macomber that are set in Alaska although this isn't during winter and the darkest months.Lane and Dylan have great chemistry, real affection and caring plus there's a lot of loving.Vivid descriptions of the scenery, the lodge, the towns along with crimes, suspense and some mysteries to solve. nice closure especially with the epilogue and several happily ever afters. Dylan's daughter Emily was darling and stole my heart.Can't wait for Dylan's brothers stories - Nick's in Against the Sky and Rafe's in Against the Tide.
review 2: Lane Bishop has decided it was time to move on after the death of her fi... moreancé. Going to the wilds of Alaska to help Dylan Brodie design the interior of the 1930s lodge he is working on, Lane wants to give in to the desire she feels, but is still unsure of her feelings.Dylan Brodie knows he has not been the best at being a husband and father. His wife had left him for another man, dying soon afterwards leaving him to raise their traumatized daughter all alone. Wanting to give in to the attraction he feels for Lane, he also is unsure he can risk his daughter's feelings as well as his own.Overall, the story seems to almost get intriguing, but never quite gets there. Just a little bland, and slow, but ok. less
