review 1: this was terrifying and amazing at the same time. this book doesn't really want you to like it so it's okay if you don't, but it still keeps you attached all the same. tbh i didn't know where the story was going until the last 4 chapters but it's written in such a arresting and haunting way i just couldn't hold myself back. it's sexy, frightening, sad and bittersweet all at once. i would give it 5 stars, but the overuse of metaphors irked me a little- other than that it was a wonderful small town murder mystery.
review 2: Rating: 2.5Three things initially attracted me to this book:1) the beautiful cover2) That it was $5 3) The fact that this story was about murder in a small town. I usually don't read books of this sort so it intrigued me. The initial intrigue
... more that I experienced however only lasted about 100 pages and the end was somewhat predictable. Overall, I liked the writing for the most part. The atmosphere and personification of murder was nice. BUT, I couldn't bring myself to care for Becca or any of the other characters in this book which reduced the tension and suspense that I experienced. Another contributing factor was that it took Bacca 240 pages to figure out what I had suspected from the first chapter. The book was also boring at times which made me repeatedly ask myself why a book about a girl murdered in a small town was so boring. The book didn't annoy me but the only good thing going for it was the writing and atmosphere and that is why I'm ultimately giving it 2 stars. less

Unexpected and riveting ending. Loved the way it was written, like poetry.

An uncomfortable story, but a well-told one.
