review 1: Teen fiction? Very troubling if this is the type of book that students are reading in public schools (or even just for pleasure.) Far too much sex, drugs, disrespect, violence. I recognize that teenagers encounter the majority of these things at some point in their high school experience; however, why do we need to write about them in such a casual manner? I'm sick of all of these high school books where it's difficult to distinguish whether or not I'm reading about adults or teenagers.

... moreo, this is not how teens talk. Overall, it really doesn't matter because this book is ultimately pretty forgettable. Also, there's tons of drug use in this, if you wonder about that sort of thing. less

Really great story. I especially loved the relationship between the narrator and his "grandfather."

Uneven. Highly offensive in many parts. But still a page turner. Go figure.
