review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I flew through it in an afternoon! However I felt the ending was rather rushed, and while it's set up well for the sequel, I feel like another 20-30 pages was needed. I also feel like this is one of those books where the supporting characters are what makes it good. The main protagonist Emmeline really irritated me and I found her really annoying as a narrator. Not sure yet if I'll read the sequel!

When I first looked at Winterkill, I was so excited to read it. I rushed out to my local book store that night and picked it. From the second I first cracked t... morehe spine of my hardcover copy and turned the first page, I was bound to this book. The character of Emmeline is so strong when needed, level headed, yet she also has a vulnerable side like all young girls. Kate balances the strong feelings and emotions this wonderful heroine encounters throughout the entire book. I found it took a bit longer than I had expected for the action to begin;though, once Emmeline set the her foot outside of her boundaries, I was hooked. I wasn't able to put Winterkill down for my entire reading experience. It was amazing, said short. I would highly recommend Winterkill by Kate A. Boorman to anyone seeking a compatible main character with a yearning I think we can all share. Winterkill was a very pleasurable read, and I cannot wait until Blood Like Water, the second book, is out. (Fall 2015 in case your wondering) less
