review 1: A dark erotic with some alternative sex scenes and shape shifters. This story was heavy on the sex scenes and not so much on the plot/character development. I did enjoy it overall, but that was probably due to Sebastian the main hunk. Lily is descended from an ancient line of shape shifters called the Chanku and her father is the alpha of them all. The Chanku live in the public after an accident exposed them to mankind, but it isn't always a welcoming world. Lily is trying to help their public image and figure out who is mauling young women around their stomping grounds making the Chanku look like uncontrollable animals. When Lily finds herself face to face with Sebastian, the son of their most outspoken opponent, she is enthralled with him leading to an intense relationsh... moreip and some even bigger revelations about Sebastian and his insane father. Love and sex are aplenty in this novel.
review 2: With 12 previous, erotic-romance, Wolf Tales books already published, this is a promising start to a new series – the Spirit Wild series. We meet Lily Cheval, CEO of Cheval International, who is also Chanku, a wolf-shifter and Sebastien Xenakis, son of powerful businessman, sorcerer and anti-Chanku avocate, Aldo Xenakis, who can shift into wolf but doesn’t think he is Chanku. Their immediate passion for each other is a little abrupt, but the explanation is acceptable as it doesn’t detract from the story and gives a good reason for actions further along. While the climax doesn’t feel world-shattering, it gives a good resolution to the plot and sets up some of the characters for a nice sequel. The Chanku history, mythology and religion are very well-developed and help us understand why they act as they do and the importance to them all of the pack and the family. There is violence, both actual and implied, and sex of many varieties, so the squeamish may want to skip over those scenes and just assume that all Chanku are VERY close. The story is fun, the characters are interesting and the worldbuilding has depth – I liked it. less
