review 1: I've been thinking for a while what exactly to write in order to make this a great review not only for Wolf Tales XII, but for the entire series. If for some reason this doesn't come out as the best review ever, it's fine, at least I tried. Mostly, what I really want to achieve here is for others to understand my love for this series, and of course I have to start thanking my dear friend Amanda (AGAIN!) for letting me borrow every single one of these books (THANK YOU AMANDA!) and trusting me to take good care of them. Secondly, not as a shout out thank you, but I guess I have to give kudos to no other than one of the most HILARIOUS bloggers EVER: The Romance Man, who happens to be fan # 1 of Kate Douglas and included Wolf Tales as one of his favorite picks.I can only imagi... morene him reading these books. In the beginning I had serious doubts about giving these books a chance and fought with my inner reading beast debating whether I should give it a try and go with my instinct or ignore it completely. I have to admit the first taste of Chanku was a LITTLE BIT overwhelming for my own book taste. I read it. It shocked me. I went for more.If you have never read any of these books, a fair warning is to be completely and absolutely OPEN MINDED. You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT expect to dive into high tides without a proper training of each wave and trust me, the analogy is absolutely valid. Wolf Tales is a series for people with not only high expectations in romance / passion books; but also is a window to learning different aspects or well written erotic stories. It is a challenge for those who wish to maintain the illusion of a "chaste reader" but secretly seek more. I know this because I was one of them.Curiosity not always kills the cat, but rather awakens the wolf. And for the first time in my life I can admit it was a mind blowing experience, but don't expect angst and loss of hope and wrist cutting and tragedy. This is your average paranormal book with adventure, suspense, thrill, shapeshifters and lots and LOTS of SEX. Like EXTREME. Now, don’t get me wrong. This is NOT written porn. PLEASE don't fall in the IGNORANCE of many people who keep calling this porn. This book is a MASTERPIECE. A complete and extraordinary tale of love and bonding. Of course as I mentioned before; it is kind of hard to get past through the first book without a little bit of shock. The key here is to let the second book trap you and keep giving the series a chance. By book # 5 you will not want to stop. Each character is developed in a powerful way, capable of letting the reader understand in a deep yet very simple way the basics of each. At the same time, stories are intertwined in a matter that even the most complex love triangle (or menage) is understood in a very reader friendly way.And the EROTIC PART doesn’t let ANYTHING left to the reader’s imagination. ANYTHING.For somebody who blushes even when a deep throaty kiss is described with passion, this might be a deal breaker. I for one was really hesitant and even after reading reviews and getting comments about it, had to struggle a bit. But again, give the book the benefit of the doubt and you will get great results. And so I did. I DON’T REGRET IT. Not a single minute of my reading experience. There is always going to be a taboo theme written or exposed somehow, but approaching it in such a tasteful and memorable way just makes the ride a lot more exciting. I confess that I would wake up just to read a few chapters and go to bed late at night doing the same. Mrs. Douglas KNOWS her business. She not only knows how to attract and captivate, she DELIVERS.It’s hard for me to point out one book / short story in particular that I liked more than other since ALL of them are beyond extraordinaire; but if you make me pick, I will keep my heart on Wolf Tales I and make a special mention to Wolf Tales XII. Both tales are fascinating in such a matter that love, lust, passion, sadness, frustration, suspense and intrigue are all well sown in a such a brilliant plot it’s hard not to fall in love with it. Anton Cheval, my ultimate character, stole my heart since book one, kept it throughout all 12 Wolf Tales and 9 Sexy Beasts, and never gave it back. So be it, I don’t want it back. What I do want is MORE Chanku; and Mrs. Douglas heard my calling on time with her new series Dark Wolf, which I already started loving.
review 2: The Chanku have exceptional strength, sensuality, and great survival instincts. They have been surviving far away from their true home in the mountains of Montana. Over the years, the search for mates has drawn packs together. They are only complete with one of their own kind.Anton has learned even more about the past of the Chanku. He and Lily make an astonishing discovery. And the Chanku feel the pull to them as well. The time has come for all Chanku to come together as one. The future of them all depends on it.Wolf Tales 12 by Kate Douglas is the twelfth book in the Wolf Tales series and my suggestion is not to start with this book. I did and found myself playing catch up for most of the book. This story really builds on the reader already having read the previous books. While a true lover of this series would love that, a reader like myself can get easily lost in a conclusion to a series like this. I found this book was pulling together lots of the other stories from the previous books. It is a critical book in how the Chanku are going to continue in this journey of progression. There are really no primary couple characters but a blend of many faces. They were pretty easy to follow. But I had to get about halfway in to really get the jist of what I was reading. But I really feel those who have read this series are really waiting for this book to tie up some loose ends. So my advice is be a fan of this series before picking up this book and you will find yourself a very happy reader. less
