review 1: This was a fun read. The plot is quite original and I could not see where it was heading other than knowing it would have a more or less happy ending. I like the slang that is used which is original but still makes sense and is not overused. Another delightful element is the renaming of some modern devices so the steam punk atmosphere is constantly maintained. Strong characters and a good sense of place. Recommended to the members of the normal crew who enjoy the lighter side of urban fantasy.
review 2: This second book in the series is even better than the first. In the first one we learn of the alternate timeline/history that created the vampires/weres and goblins. This time out Alexandra Vardzn has to come to terms with her new life as the goblin queen. She... more is hated by humans who want her to leave their neighborhood. Threatened with capture and experimentation by those who want to use her unique genetics. She has to deal with the fact that her brother is missing. His fellow Yardsmen are investigating her in cennection with the disappearance/death of Churchill. less
