review 1: Eyes on You is the newest mystery from Kate White. It was a quick, easy read, but lacked some of the substance I usually like in a good mystery. It was a little 'cozy' with not much happening in the first half of the book besides the main character, Robin, being harassed shortly after she releases her first book. Similar to other Kate White books, she loves to dangle the red herrings out there to pull you away from the real harasser/killer. The mystery is quickly wrapped up nicely at the end. I enjoy the way Kate White writes when I'm looking for simple read (i.e. you can just enjoy the book and not concentrate on all the details). If you like Kate White's other books, you will enjoy this one as well since it focuses on the same industry (entertainment and fashion) and... more is easy to pick up and follow where the story is going. Overall, an ok read for me this time.
review 2: I'm not rating this as I gave up reading at page 63. This is set in a television studio and I thought at first that I would enjoy it as the setting reminded me of "The Newsroom". However, it was hard to like the protagonist and the writing wasn't very good: lots of telling instead of showing and clunky references to her stepmother's cruelty (maybe they were foreshadowing - I'll never find out). There were little dramas every (shortish) chapter, which I think were meant to be building suspense and the cockroach in the coffee was the last straw for me. less

A fun, quick, mindless summer read. I'd say my actual rating is closer to 3.5 stars.

Easy summer read. A bit Mary Higgins Clark-ish with a little sex.

Not her best work.
