review 1: This book was very well done. I was already pretty familiar with the Good News Club having done a lot of research when approached about sponsoring a group during my time in church work. But I hadn't really realized just how extensive the legal and political maneuvering of the far right has been in regard to this stuff. I didn't realize how many public school boards are made up of parents whose children are being home schooled or private schooled. These parents are not trying to improve things for their own kids, but rather have an agenda to force their ideas onto other families. This is the worst kind of extremism. I took a look at some of the Good News Club Curriculum and found it to be abusive and dangerous. I can't imagine how anyone would think that the story of ... moreSaul being instructed to kill the Amalekites and his punishment for not completely wiping them out would be a great story for children. Fear-based religion at its absolute worst. I read a library copy of this book, but plan to buy my own copy as I there is a lot of research the author did I want to follow up on.
review 2: This excellent book is full of well-researched information about the religious right's assault on education in America. Stewart researched her subject thoroughly, and she reports the alarming facts in a sober, level-headed way. This is not a polemic, but it is a clear wake-up call filled with troubling information on the Christian right's effort to dismantle American public education and tear down the wall of separation. less

Christian fundamentalists are the only people that have the "correct" answer. Sounds nutty to me.

Everyone should read. These people lack all ethics and disgust me.

Just another way sectarian beliefs rip apart communities.
