review 1: The first third of the book was darker with all of the atrocities the hero had committed in the name of war, but I feel it was a lot more realistic for what it would have been like for the people back then. The rest of the book was easier to read as I was able to delve into the story and enjoy how the hero grew into a better man without turning pansy. Warning there is an adult scene in the book closer to the end but easily skipped, and one unpleasant and humiliating scene where the hero tries to scare and intimidate the heroin into compliance. Also, there is some very heavy kissing that could have been left out in my opinion. I would give the first part of the book 2 stars but the rest 4 as I enjoyed the character growth and story plot later on.
review 2: Love
... moreconquers all even The Dark Lord.I absolutely loved The Dark Lord by Kathryn Le Veque. This was the first book I have read by Mrs.Le Veque and I was not disappointed. She has an amazing way of creating strong charters that you want to root for, want them to overcome their conflicts, and have a happy ever after. The storyline kept me turning the pages and had a great little twist in the end. A true medieval romance.I will definitely be reading more of Kathryn's novels. less
