Butler brings his trademark sweetness to the baby fauna while Galbraith's verse invites many "peek-a-boo" moments for the littlest ones and suggests larger motor actions for bigger children.Baby deer disappear (put hands in front of face)...rabbits freeze (stand very still)...robins hunch (lift shoulders)...leopards scramble (run or wiggle in place)...otters duck & dive (bend knees, pinch nose)...polar bears vanish (make snowing motions with hands)etc.
review 2: The acrylic and colored pencil illustrations in this visually appealing picture book feature baby animals in various spots. Sometimes their fur and coloring allows them to blend in with their surroundings as is the case of a fawn. Sometimes, as is the case for river o... moretters or rabbits, they move so quietly or freeze so that nothing can spot them. Young readers will enjoy the illustrations and noticing how baby animals of various species have the need to hide and be assured by their mothers.
