Temperance Brennan
review 1: Another intriguing Kathy Reichs novel. It all starts with a young girl found on the road, a victim of a hit and run. Accidental, or...She had no ID but an object found with the body was connected to a criminal. What was the real story. Then by chance, Tempe is sent to Afghanistan to observe a disinterment of two Afghan nationals shot by an American serviceman-murder? or self-defense. These two threads eventually connect in a surprising turn of events. Recommended for forensic anthropology and Reichs mystery fans.
review 2: I can see from reading other reviews that opinion on this addition to the Temperance Brennan series is mixed...maybe even leaning toward the negative. But this is one author i find myself returning to even though her later books are disappointin
... moreg. That said, I enjoyed reading this book, especially, her experiences in Baghram. She did well in making the atmosphere there seem real to me. (Semi-spoiler alert.)However. A big however. I think the plot and it's resolution is shaky and I am incredulous that such disparate threads could wind up being intertwined. I would have preferred each plot line, the hit and run woman, the military shooting, the Peruvian dog mummies, to remained separate. Temperance's relationships with Ryan, Pete, and her daughter are repetitive. Her attitude toward the overweight investigator is very off-putting. The only character who seems fresh is the policeman Slidell. The role of Brennan seems to be akin to what someone compared to Nancy Drew...with corpses. She goes into a situation that no one in their right mind would enter. It's like watching a horror movie, where, every, action of the characters is such a bad idea that you just have to laugh. And what about that soldier from Baghram who seems to stalk her? What's up with that?Sigh. In writing my review I realized there was so much wrong with this book that I went back and removed a star from my rating. less

Silly plot and the heroine's role was not believable from start to finish.
