review 1: Una vera delusione, soprattutto dopo essere stata abituata a ben altro. I libri della Reichs normalmente mi piacciono molto, questo proprio no.In Spider Bones emergono con grandissima forza tutti i punti deboli tipici degli altri suoi thriller, che normalmente, però, se ne rimangono sullo sfondo, ben coperti da buone trame, colpi di scena e personaggi ben riusciti. In questo caso sono tutti in piena luce: la scrittura, normalmente composta di periodi brevi, a volte anche solo di una parola, qui la fa da padrone con grande fastidio per il lettore. La tendenza di Tempe a fare la maestrina, che normalmente svela cose interessanti e si perdona volentieri, qui è esagerata all'impossibile, avrei voluto strozzare la Brennan pur di farla tacere. Una noia infinita ascoltarla. La ... moretrama è veramente buttata lì, ma sarebbe anche una bella trama, se non che è veramente troppo ingarbugliata nel modo in cui è stata scritta, sono solo un mare di avvenimenti accatastati uno sull'altro in modo così caotico che l'interesse del lettore viene a mancare fin troppo presto.I problemi sentimentali di Tempe, normalmente sensati sebbene leggermente paranoici, qui sono paranoici e basta, una rottura. Tanto più che per Spider Bones, l'antropologa si trova a dover lavorare alle Hawaii, così la Reichs trova un pretesto per portare alle Hawaii anche Ryan, che però nella storia occupa lo stesso posto del mobilio: la sua presenza è inutile, viene coinvolto nel caso inutilmente e non aggiunge nulla alla trama o alla storia sentimentale di Bones, è una presenza senza scopo.Il solito attentato alla vita di Tempe, che ormai ha rotto, visto che è ormai un tema fisso dei libri è anche poco riuscito, dal momento che avviene in un momento in cui non ha senso avvenga. Nemmeno Tempe sa ancora a chi appartengono i resti ritrovati, come lo può sapere il suo attentatore? In conclusione: ho come la vaga impressione che la Reichs abbia scritto questo libro per far numero, o forse annoiata, o forse per non abbassare la media delle pubblicazioni, non lo so, fatto sta che è il peggior libro di Temperance Brennan che io abbia mai letto.
review 2: Spider Bones By Kathy ReichsAn author that does not disappoint. A melding of fact and fiction - Kathy Reichs uses her own experience with the USA's JPAC. An agency that go out and look for missing USA military from wars as far back as WW11.A body is found in Canada in very strange circumstance's and when the DNA is taken it comes back as a shock for a father who was under the impression his son was buried in the USA. On digging up the body buried in the USA it turns out that this is a completely different body to the one they think it should be.The Father insists Tempe goes to Hawaii and work with the JPAC people to find out where his son is and why there is someone else in his sons grave.Once Tempe gets to Hawaii she is contacted by the local ME, she has a a portion of a body that has shark teeth marks on it.once the investigation starts at JPAC and the medical examiners offices Tempe finds she is in danger and after a car tries to run her off the road, she has to accept some aspect of the investigations have taken a dangerous turn.I love the story and the facts Kathy bring in to the story. The number of people JPAC bring back to the USA, bringing them back to their family's.The story moves from Canada to USA and to Hawaii. Its wonderfully fast paced and the story is wonderfully twisting and many times Tempe thinks she has sorted out the many layers of the investigation and finds she has another layer to sort out.I love the book Kathy Reichs brings something new to each and every book she writes and this one is no exception. less
