review 1: Arnoldi is no Palahniuk. Having recently re-read Sam Fussell's "Muscle" and being a fan of Palahniuk's hysterical nihilism, I started reading Arnoldi's "Chemical Pink" with hopes of... well, I'm not sure what but certainly not this. Everything in Chemical Pink just is so laughably over the top that it starts to border on bizarro fiction instead of being any kind of expose of the subculture of womens' bodybuilding, the strange men with their Pygmalion fixations behind it or gender issues or... anything of value, really.Anyways, not to my liking.
review 2: Chemical Pink by Katie Arnoldi is a novel that explores how obsession can take over peoples' lives. This book is extremely entertaining. I read the book in one day, it was hard to pull myself away from it. This
... more book is similar to a Chuck Palahniuk story, both delve into subjects that many people are uncomfortable dealing with. They both write stories in a way that keep the reader interested. Overall, Katie Arnoldi is a great writer and Chemical Pink is a great book. less
