review 1: Not my favourite.I wasn't a fan of Alex. I thought it was really cool that she was into saving the plant and changing things up. But, then it got to the fact that she was so worried about herself. She could've done so much with her views and her Grandmother's money but she got so caught up in her image and her appearance that she forgot about all of those things that made her different. She was vain and because she was vain, she totally killed the things that I liked about her.The plot was the plot. There were a couple twists at the end. Crouch went back and forth between the different perspectives and I thought that was an interesting way to see the entire story. I liked the different perspectives -it kept things interesting.I don't know about this book. It was ok. The sh... moreallowness of the main characters totally killed it for me.
review 2: Meh. The plot line is interesting in theory, but the writing is cliched and the narrator is frankly unlikable. The author doesn't ever give you any real reason to like Alex, who is without a doubt the most judgmental, narrow-minded character in the book. But apparently because she has dreadlocks and wears vintage tees, we're supposed to identify her as the outsider and immediately relate. She is more pretentious hipster than actual hippie. This is one of those YA books where you feel that the author was writing it with the end game of getting some sort of movie made, and it came at the expense of the book. There's a lot of scene setting and beautiful people described, but no character development or plot movement until the last 5% of the book. I assume this is because there is some sort of law now that all YA books must be stretched out to at least a trilogy. less

An interesting bit of voodoo, although the ending broke my heart.
