review 1: After reading Marisha Pessl's Special Topics in Calamity Physics - a book about how a group of girls/boys are sort of forced together, then right into this book - a book about how a group of girls are sort of forced together...this one pales in comparison. It had the feel of a high school kid with no experience with drugs or drug dealing writing a book about drugs and drug dealing. I finished just to finish since it was only 280 pages but that was a mistake too.
review 2: I came upon this book by accident, but, noticing the authors name, I decided to check it out of the library. I had wanted to read her first novel, Girls in Trucks, but never got to it. This is decidedly a contemporary novel by a contemporary writer and a compelling tale of a young student who
... moregoes to Italy for her year abroad. She falls in with a fast crowd, and, well ... things do go awry for the quiet, generally studious Taz. She seems to know things will and that is what makes it an even more compelling read. less

I liked this book better than I thought I would. Definitely has tinges of the Amanda Knox story.

I couldn't put this down. Reminded me of Donna Tartt's The Secret History.
