review 1: This is a story that buckled under the weight of its premise. It was simply too much to cover in the short space. At one point I thought a chapter was missing from my ebook because it seemed like we were building towards a big reveal from Jonah that sort of just fizzled. I'm not even sure I understand what happened with him-it was a lot of emotional turmoil with no payoff. Plus we get some awkward time jumps in which we're told the relationship between Stella and Jonah develops, but we don't see it. Not enough development actually happens on the page for it to be completely believable for me.Also, hair dye costs money last time I checked. And a freaky color like purple would require bleaching first, I'd think. My point is that Stella is poor and can't afford shoes but can ... moreafford hair dye? McGarry does this a lot - I remember another of her characters had full tattoo sleeves at 16 but was basically homeless. Tattoos (unless you get them in jail) cost money, and full sleeves wouldn't be cheap. Anyway, overall the story was cute and heartfelt, but could have used fleshing out with more space.
review 2: I loved PtL but haven't loved the subsequent books in the series as much. Too much angst and drama and the guys are just possessive jerks imo. I had given up on this series but saw I had downloaded this one awhile back and figured I would give it a shot and I'm glad I did.Red at Night has the same basic set up as most of McGarry's books but because of the shorter length it doesn't get bogged down in unnecessary drama. The romance and characters were flawed but took steps to change and make better decisions. less

I was a super quick read that ended way to soon. I want more of these two!

I really liked this, but I wish it was a novel not a novella
