review 1: Really enjoyable read, kinda Cinderella ish.., you have Barrett English the stoic business man (hint of Mr Darcy) and Emily who's the daughter of the English's Gardner and Housekeeper. Barrett and Emily grew up together and although there are eight years difference between them there has always been something simmering in the background. Emily has loved Barrett since forever and Barrett has felt the same but never said anything...until he hears that Emily needs money and comes up with a cunning plan. I loved that you got both POV really added to the story and understanding of the characters and their feelings for each other, I thought Barrett was absolutely lovely, sweet and kind, so brutal in the boardroom but so vulnerable when it came to Emily, he was so honest with her... more it was refreshing to read. I would have loved to hear more about his brothers although I know they get there own books but a bit more on them would have been nice. All in all a really great start to the series and I will definitely be adding the rest of the series to my collection.
review 2: Barrett English is known for his ruthless ways in the boardroom, to soften his image he asks childhood neighbor and friend Emily Edwards to pretend to be his fiancee. Emily, a student at University of Pennsylvania agrees to help offset the cost of college. It's not like she and Barrett are intimate, it is all an act, until it's not. Very fun read, Emily has feelings for Barrett but what she doesn't know is that Barrett has feelings for her. Barrett wears a mask and keeps his feelings carefully hidden, but when he sees the spark of interest from Emily he decides it is time to act on them. Sweet story, can't wait to read more of the English brothers stories. less
