review 1: There was a lot I liked about this book. It had good points; it made good use of real-life illustrations; it included ways to practice what was being talked about. The one thing that bothered me is that sometimes verses seemed taken out of context. And whichever translation or paraphrase most fit the point was used. Even when I agreed with the point being made, having a verse misapplied broke the flow for me.
review 2: Addressed specifically to women, but the message is just as applicable to men. Bottom line being that joy is a choice (if you didn't catch that from the title), and God is the ultimate source of that joy.It does give me cause for concern when any author turns to a dozen different Bible translations to make her points, even more so when two o... moref her favourites are paraphrases. That is why I cannot give more than 3 stars here. less
