review 2: I got this free at an EO (entrepreneur's organization) conference in DC. Got to hear the guy speak also (better known for the bestseller never eat alone which I think I'll buy). The idea is provocative - who do you have who really pushes you to improve? My answer is not enough people. of course, like many books from speakers with consulting firms, you feel that a 10 page synopsis would tell you what you need to know. of course, that's why I skimmed.Second thoughts:There's a gaping whole in the middle of the book. In both his public presentation and in his book, he stresses the importance of being vulnerable and relationships. Yet for all his stories about his family and his famous friends (for a guy who says he's worked on not bragging there's an awful lot of name dropping in the book), there's no indication that the man has ever had a significant other and certainly no sense of children. Which is a personal choice. But perhaps it's a sign of our culture where a guy talking about vulnerability and relationships doesn't have some key ones of his own. I do want to read his other book - Never Eat Alone. Perhaps because I start from a place which says being able to be alone with ones thoughts occasionally is the key to remaining balanced. less
